The World Bank report Global Economic Prospects[1], released in January 2017, and estimated global growth in 2016 at a post-crisis low of 2.3%. It was noted that growth in emerging markets and developing economies (EMDEs) is projected to rise in 2017 to 2.7%, reflecting receding obstacles to activity in commodity exporters and continued solid domestic demand in commodity importers. An increase in commodity prices will trigger the bottoming out in the largest emerging markets, including Russia and Brazil.
