At the St Petersburg International Economic Forum held this month, several deals were concluded, the biggest among them being the sale, by Rosneft to BP, of a 20% stake in an East Siberian oil producer company; however, the negotiations on another deal in the natural gas sector – the construction of a second pipeline to Germany, the second Russian-Chinese pipeline for gas deliveries via the Western route, or a pipeline to Greece – are still in the phase of memorandums of intentions. The decision on moving the parliamentary election from December to September 2016 was approved in fi rst reading; Alexei Kudrin’s initiative that it should be timed with the presidential election was supported neither by the RF President’s Executive Offi ce nor the parliament.
