Alexei Vedev on Key Risks of Russia’s Social and Economic Development

On 15 October, an international seminar on the main aspects of Russia’s economic development in the mid-term prospect was held at the Gaidar Institute.

The Japanese delegation included Professor Masaaki Kuboniva of the Institute for Economic Research, Hitotsubashi University, Professor Sinichiro Tabata, Slavo-Eurasian Research Center, Hokkaido University, Professor Maiu Michigami, Department of Economics, Niigata University and other representatives of Japan’s expert community.   
At the seminar, Alexei Vedev, Leading Researcher of the Financial Studies Department, the Gaidar Institute told about the key risks of Russia’s socioeconomic development in the mid-term prospect and  paid attention to the fact that numerous experts expected worsening of the foreign economic situation by 2020–2021:  decrease in global GDP growth rates, depreciation of prices on energy commodities and other resources, as well as prolongation of sanctions and limitation of  foreign capital access to Russia, that is, factors that might hinder growth of the Russian economy 2021–2024.
