How Small and Medium – sized Enterprises (SME) impact on socio-economic development of regions?

An open seminar “Evaluation of the SME impact on socio-economic development of the regions of Russia” took place on November 23 at the Russian Presidential Academy of National Economy and Public Administration (RANEPA) with the participation of Vera Barinova, Head of Innovation Economics Department, of the Gaidar Institute, and Stepan Zemtsov, Senior Researcher of this Department.

Principal results of the research implemented by employees of the Gaidar Institute, RANEPA and Russian Foreign Trade Academy under Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation, were discussed in the course of the Seminar.

Vera Barinova moderated this seminar and Stepan Zemtsov submitted substantive conclusions of the annual activity.

Julia Tsareva, Researcher of the RANEPA Department of Entrepreneurship Studies, highlighted methodology and results of evaluation.

The discussion that was a follow up of the presentation was focused on approaches towards evaluation under consideration as well as possible corrections of the achieved results.

Some of the seminar participants considered eventual political recommendations for development of small and medium –sized entrepreneurship in Russia.

Guest speakers from the Lomonosov Moscow State University, NRU Higher School of Economics, Corporation of Small and Medium – sized Enterprises, presented their positions with regard to ways of improvement of entrepreneurial policy considered in the course of the seminar.
