Development of Methodology for Calculating the Contribution of Railway Transportation to GDP of the Russian Federation (JSC Russian Railways, November-December 2018)

The project’s aim was to develop a draft methodology for calculating contribution of railway transportation to Russia's GDP. This methodology will be used to calculate social and economic benefits from the implementation of the Long-Term Program of JSC Russian Railways as well as major projects of JSC Russian Railways.

As part of the project, a draft methodology was developed to calculate the railway transportation contribution to Russia's GDP and, on its basis, to assess the activities of railway transportation and JSC Russian Railways and the Russian Railways holding company on Russia's GDP taking into account the multiplicative impact on related sectors of the economy including freight railway transportation operators, passenger railway transportation companies, other railway companies, suppliers of material and technical resources, manufacturers of products, transportation of goods and services, as well as other railway companies.

The project was completed in December 2018.
