Dmitry Evdokimov: European automakers may use dumping in Russia

Dmitry Evdokimov, a researcher at the Gaidar Institute’s Quantitative Analysis of Economic Effects Department, said in a commentary for TASS that European automakers returning to the Russian market may use dumping to restore their foothold.

According to the expert, this will lead to lower prices for European cars and increased competition, especially among Chinese manufacturers, who will also be forced to either improve quality or lower prices.

According to Dmitry Evdokimov, such competition will improve the quality of service, which is a weakness of Chinese brands. However, the expert noted that the early return of German automakers is unlikely due to the significant costs of restoring or creating new production facilities and the need for confidence in the stability of the investment climate in Russia.
