EMPLOYEES OF GAIDAR INSTITUTE TOOK PART IN THE VII INTERNATIONAL FORUM OF UNIVERSITIES

On June 5, 2019, VII International Forum of universities “Global competitiveness” took place in Moscow under strategic partnership of the Foundation “New Economic Education” established by the Gaidar Institute in 2000.
Nadezhda Volovik, Head of Foreign Trade Department, Olga Izryadnova, Head of Structural Policy Department, Nina Glavatskaya, Head of Editorial and Publications Division, Olga Matveicheva, Chief accountant, Foundation “New Economic Education”, represented Gaidar Institute at the Forum.
By the start of 2019 enrollment campaign, RAEX rating agency (RAEX-Analytics) published three studies. The first was the annual ranking of the top 100 universities of Russia, prepared for the eighth time. The second block represented ranking by discipline: lists of the best Russian universities and schools in the field of information technologies were compiled for the first time within the framework of a joint project of RAEX and SIBINTEK. RAEX has also prepared a ranking of the top 100 schools most successful in preparation of their pupils for admission to the top Russian universities according to competitiveness of their graduates.
According to RAEX data, metropolitan schools dominate in the 100 top universities: 34 universities of the first hundred  are located in Moscow and Moscow Region and 11 in St. Petersburg. The third region by number of the best universities (5) is the Tomsk region.
St. Petersburg is a major mobility center of applicants, representing the best schools of Russia: 60% of first-year students of the leading universities of this city came to study from other subjects of the Russian Federation compared to only 36% in Moscow.
As for universities ranking in the field of information technologies, it has shown that high-quality IT training is available in many regions of Russia: universities of 27 Russian regions are among 50 top IT universities, while universities of just 16 cities are included in the RAEX top 50.
As for schools ranking with regard to graduates' competitiveness, majority of schools whose graduates are most successfully enrolled in the best universities of the country, specialize in physics, mathematics and natural sciences. Three fourth (¾) of participants have a corresponding profile among the first 20.
Participants discussed the future impact of digitalization on educational environment and development of reputation and competitiveness of the university. Experts also talked about potential formats of interaction with schools.
According to ranking of the 100 best universities, an award ceremony took place for higher educational institutions and personalities who made a significant contribution to the development of education in Russia.
In addition, a workshop dedicated to new generation of applicants, level of their knowledge and life demands as well as willingness of universities to change for the sake of new demands of young people, was held under the forum umbrella.

In total, 300 delegates attended conference, including members of the international association IREG Observatory, representatives of academic and expert community, employers.
