March 19 is the 57th anniversary of Yegor Gaidar

Yegor Gaidar was one of the key leaders and ideologists of the economic reforms of the early 1990s in Russia.

 

In 1991-1994 he held senior positions in the Russian government, including Acting Prime Minister of Russia for 6 months. Under the leadership of Gaidar the transition from a planned economy to the market one has been started, price liberalization, restructuring of the tax system, the liberalization of foreign trade and privatization process were launched.

 

Yegor Gaidar was the founder and Director of the Institute for Economic Policy, which is named after him since 2010. He was the author of numerous publications on the economy, several monographs on the economic history of Russia and the analysis of the transition processes from a planned economy to the market one.
