Meeting of the Expert Group on Management of the State Property and Privatization
On April 27, 2011, a meeting of the Expert Group on Development of Proposals on Topical Issues of the Social and Economic Strategy of Russia in the Period until 2020 in the Line: Management of the State Property and Privatization (Group No. 15) on issues of corporate governance in companies with a state participation was held at the Gaidar Institute for Economic Policy.
The participants in the meeting discussed the following topics: identification of the interests of the state in respect of the companies with a state participation, efficiency of the system of independent directors and the prospect of a possible development of the structure and powers of the board of directors.
Reports were delivered by Igor Belikov, Director of the Russian Institute of Directors, a non-profit partnership (The Practice of Corporate Governance of Companies with a State Participation), Tatyana Dolgopyatove, Doctor of Economics and Professor of the National Research University the Higher School of Economics (The Companies with a State Participation: Major Guidelines), Svetlana Avdasheva, Doctor of Economics and Professor of the National Research University the Higher School of Economics (Independent Directors at Companies with a State Participation: Important Requirements for Efficiency) and Alexei Uvarov, Director of the Property Relations Department of the Ministry of Economic Development of the Russian Federation. Comments were made by members of the Expert Group and invited analysts.
