Hannah Arendt

Translated to Russian by D. Aronson. Moscow: Gaidar Institute Press, 2014. – 416 p.

ISBN 978-5-93255-385-5

The collection includes philosophical essays written in the 1950s and 1960s. Arendt discusses the role that the concepts of “tradition,” “religion,” and “authority” have played in the political and historical self-perception of Europeans since the time of Ancient Rome. Noting the disintegration of the unity that these concepts formed up until the modern era, Arendt examines the consequences of this disintegration for various areas of human life –education, politics, culture. Arendt presents her essays as “exercises in political thought,” as attempts to learn to think in a world in which traditional concepts and ideas can no longer serve as our support.
