This collection includes selected articles by Nobel Prize laureate Ronald Coase (1910–2013), the founder of the new institutional economic theory, published in the 1970s and 1990s. The collection consists of two parts. The first part, “Economic Science”, is devoted to the methodological problems of economic theory. The author shares his vision of what economic science should be and what role it should play in the life of society. The second part, "Economists", presents Coase's biographical studies of Alfred Marshall, as well as his recollections of a number of outstanding economists (A. Plant, D. Black, D. Stigler) and his stay at the London School of Economics.

The book is intended for a wide range of readers interested in the development of economic thought.
