SAID BATKIBEKOV HAS PASSED AWAY

Gaidar Institute is sad to announce that on April 5 our colleague Said Batkibekov has passed away.

Said was born on January 13, 1977 in Frunze city. In 1998 he graduated from the Finance Academy under the Government of the Russian Federation. After graduation, he studied at the graduate school of the Institute of the Economy in Transition and obtained Ph.D. degree in economics. In 2002 he became the Head of the Fiscal Policy Department of the Institute.

When he was 27 years old, (in 2004), S. Batkibekov was appointed to the position of the Director of the Department for Socio-Economic Development in the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the Russian Federation. In March 2008 he has joined the GC "Troika Dialog. From August 2011, Said Batkibekov served as the Head of OAO "Sberbank of Russia" for national and municipal projects and programs.

Until recently, Said maintained a close relationship with the Institute staff members and was a friend to many of them.

We express our deepest condolences to the family and friends of our colleague. May the memory of him be cherished.
