STUDY: “SOCIETY AND PANDEMIC. EXPERIENCE AND LESSONS OF COMBATTING COVID-19 IN RUSSIA”

A comprehensive interdisciplinary study “Society and a Pandemic. Experience and lessons of combatting COVID-19 in Russia” is due for release. The publication is dedicated to a comprehensive study of the COVID-19 pandemic-induced crisis, and the experience of responding to crisis challenges.

Vladimir Mau, Rector of RANEPA is the Editor-in-Chief of this publication. The editorial board included: Georgy Idrisov, Assistant to the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, Yaroslav Kuzminov, Rector of NRU HSE, Viktor Sadovnichy, Rector of Lomonosov MSU, Sergey Sinelnikov-Murylev, Rector of the Russian Foreign Trade Academy.

Experts of the Gaidar Institute Vera Barinova, Sergey Belev, Alexander Deryugin, Stepan Zemtsov, Andrey Kaukin, Vladimir Nazarov, Yuri Ponomarev, and Ilia Sokolov, took an active part in the preparation of this publication.

Researchers presented a detailed chronology of the coronavirus crisis onset and analyzed responses and mechanisms used by the health care, education, and social support spheres in force majeure circumstances. The authors comprehensively studied models of response to COVID-19 in the economic and management sectors, focused on psychology of the crisis and social solidarity. In addition, the study reflects interviews with heads of federal agencies directly involved in decision-making and implementation of anti-epidemic measures during the pandemic.

The study included detailed and in-depth interviews with heads of the Government of the Russian Federation, a number of federal ministries and departments that have accumulated vast experience in combatting the coronavirus crisis and its consequences.
