On 23 May 2011 Gaidar Institute for Economic Policy hosted a meeting of the Expert Group on development of recommendation on urgent issues of socio-economic strategy of Russia through 2010 on “Development of Financial and Banking Sector” (Group No. 10), which addressed scenarios of banking sector development and macro prudential regulation.

On May 18, 2011, a meeting of the Expert Group on Development of Proposals on Topical Issues of the Social and Economic Strategy of Russia in the period until 2020 in the Line: Development of the Financial and Banking Sector (Group No. 10) on issues of organization of supervision and protection of consumers’ rights was held at the Gaidar Institute for Economic Policy.  

On April 27, 2011, a meeting of the Expert Group on Development of Proposals on Topical Issues of the Social and Economic Strategy of Russia in the Period until 2020 in the Line: Management of the State Property and Privatization (Group No. 15) on issues of corporate governance in companies with a state participation was held at the Gaidar Institute for Economic Policy.

On 21 April 2011 Vasiliy Zatsepin, a senior research fellow of the Military Economy Department of the Gaidar Institute for Economic Policy made presentation at the meeting of Dispute Club of the Association of Independent centers of economic analysis on the theme: "Military Reform: Demand, Supply and PR" (see Presentation).

April 20, 2011 the members of the “Strategy 2020” Work Group, Director of the Center for Structural Surveys of the Gaidar Institute Alexei Vedev spoke at the round-table meeting “The Russian Economy and Banking Sector in the Mid-Term (till 2013)”, где рассматривались prospects and issues at the Russian banking system.

A closed meeting of the Group of Experts on Topical Issues of Socio-Economic Strategy of Russia for a Period till 2020, which is dedicated to the issue of “Reduction in Inequality and Poverty Alleviation” (Group No. 9), was held at the Gaidar Institute of Economic Policy on April 21, 2011. A work plan on final document preparation was discussed at the meeting.

The Expert Group on development of proposals on urgent problems of Russia’s socio-economic strategy for the period through 2020 on the direction “Development of the Financial and Banking Sector” (Group №10) held its session on 18 April 2011 at the Institute of Economic Policy named after Ye. T. Gaidar to discuss prospects of development of the derivatives market.

The Expert Group on development of proposals on urgent problems of Russia’s socio-economic strategy for the period through 2020 on the direction “Tax Policy” (Group № 6) held its closed session on 13 April 2011 at the Institute of Economic Policy named after Ye. T. Gaidar to discuss strategic options in regard to the social contributions (uniform social tax) reform.

The Expert Group on development of proposals on urgent problems of Russia’s socio-economic strategy for the period through 2020 on the direction “Budgetary and Monetary Policy, Macroeconomic Parameters of Development of Russia’s Economy” (Group № 2) held its meeting on 8 April 2011 at the Institute of Economic Policy named after Ye. T. Gaidar to discuss main parameters of Russia’s federal budget until 2020.

The Expert Group on development of proposals on urgent problems of Russia’s socio-economic strategy for the period through 2020 on directions “Budgetary and Monetary Policy, Macroeconomic Parameters of Development of Russia’s Economy” (Group № 2) and “Tax Policy” (Group № 6) held its meeting on 31 March 2011 at the Institute of Economic Policy named after Ye. T. Gaidar. At the meeting, experts discussed the problem of lowering export duty rates on oil and oil products and increasing prices of energy sources on the domestic market to the international level.

On 24 March 2011 A.L. Vedev, Director of Gaidar Institute Center of Structural Research, made a keynote address at the regular meeting of the RSPP Commission on Banks and Banking.

The Expert Group for preparation of proposals on urgent problems of Russia’s socio-economic strategy for the period through 2020 on the direction “Real federalism, local self-government, interbudgetary policy” (Group №12) held its meeting on 24 March. At the meeting, the Expert Group discussed a report, which concerned assessment of the current situation in the area of federalism and local self-government, among other things.

Gaidar Institute hosted the fourth day of Gaidar Forum.

On 28 January 2011 the 2nd scientific and applied conference-discussion was held in Moscow on the subject of “Is Modernization Feasible under the Current System of Regulation of Tax Legal Relations”.

On January 20, 2011, Gaidar Institute hosted a workshop on the issue of designing the mechanism of implementation by the RF Federal Tax Service of activities on debt collection from foreign debtors to RF, including those residing beyond the RF territory.
