On 19 July, panel discussion “Legal aspects of creating Islamic financial sector in Russia” took place at the Gaidar Institute. The participants discussed the prospects of changing the Russian legislation in order to legally introduce and provide partner banking. Also, the question of adaptation of Islamic finance instruments to Russian law enforcement practice was raised during the expert discussion.

On 14 July, senior researcher Yuri Zaitsev took part in the online conference “Russian Economy under sanctions: adaptation experience and perspectives” organized by Finam.

Natalya Kornienko, Head of the Tax System Development Department at the Gaidar Institute, spoke at the session “Eurasian economic growth and the ‘Chinese factor’” at the 12th annual Eurasia Tax Forum which was held on 21–23 June in the Hague (Netherlands).

On 20–22 June, researchers from Gaidar Institute attended the 36^th International Symposium on Forecasting held by the International Institute of Forecasters at Santander (Spain).

On 16-17 June 2016, Head of the Innovation Economy Department Vera Barinova and senior researcher of the department Stepan Zemtsov made presentation “Determinants of regional innovation output in Russia: are people or capital more important?” at the 11^th International conference Model-based Evidence on Innovation and Development (MEIDE) held in Moscow.

By a decree of the French Prime Minister Manuel Valls, Irina Dezhina, Doctor of Economics, leading researcher of the Social Services Department of the Gaidar Institute and head of the Research Group on Science and Industrial Policy at Skoltech Institute, has been awarded the Ordre des Palmes Academiques (Order of Academic Palms).

On 21 June, daily “Vedomosti” released an article written by senior researcher Ivan Lyubimov titled “Pensions as a Refresh Mechanism”, which discusses the need for timely turnover of staff in technologically and intellectually complicated sectors of the economy.

On 10 June, Irina Dezhina, leading researcher at the Social Services Department at the Gaidar Institute, made a presentation at the International Forum of Technological Development “Tekhnoprom-2016” which was held in Novosibirsk. The title of her speech was “The BRICS Research and Innovation Network Platform as a search platform for partners for joint R&D and innovation projects”.

Logos, a Russian philosophical and literary journal whose founder is the Gaidar Institute has been included in Scopus, the largest international database of scientific periodicals.

On 15 June, the Slon.ru Web-site carried an article – Irregular Improvements. Wh ere Russian Reformers are Always Wrong – by Ivan Lyubimov, Senior Researcher. The article deals with the issue of sensitivity of transformations selected at random.

On 8 June, Natalia Kornienko, Head of the Tax System Development Department took part in a joint meeting of the Tax Committee of the Russian Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs and the Committee on Taxes, Financial Reporting and Controlling of the Russian-German Foreign Trade Chamber.

On 31 May, Sergei Prikhodko, Executive Director and Sergei Drobyshevsky, Academic Director took part in the round table: “IdeaFactory – The Digital World & the Future of Work” which was held within the frameworks of the annual OECD Forum.
